Hives for Heroes welcomes active duty, veterans, and first responders who have limited or no beekeeping experience and wish to explore beekeeping, cultivate healthy relationships, and actively participate in the organization. Our goal is to provide our Nation’s Heroes with a local mentor while supporting through regular events, resources, and application based funding opportunities as a “NewBEE”.

A Hives for Heroes “Mentor” commits to guiding at least one Hero for a duration of one year and exemplifies the values and mission of Hives for Heroes. The mentor agrees to provide one hive specifically for training and educational purposes during the initial year, and will generously donate one split or swarm to NewBEEs who successfully complete their first year in the program. To qualify for this role, the mentor should possess three or more years of proven and successful experience in beekeeping.

  • Grow - year 2

    In year two, focus on three things:

    1. Growth – Grow your skills, your bees, and your confidence.
    2. Contribution – Give back to the community and support others on their journey to healing themselves and others.
    3. Sustainability – Learn to manage your hives in ways that reflect long-term stewardship and healing.

    Year Two is not just about becoming a better beekeeper it’s about becoming a stronger leader, a deeper learner, and a committed steward of both the bees and the community.

  • Lead - year 3

    In year three, focus on three things:

    1. Leadership – Guide others with humility, wisdom, and courage.
    2. Service – Put people first, always seeking the betterment of others while sharing knowledge with others.
    3. Impact – Use your knowledge, bees, and influence to grow the mission. Step up and share the power of community.

    Year Three is about becoming a leader of leaders serving Heroes, strengthening communities, and ensuring Hives for Heroes continues to transform lives for generations to come.
